A Necklace Extravaganza

If you've been following the saga of THAT dress, then you'll already know that today was to be the day I passed the verdict on which one of the 7 pieces of jewellery I've made this week that I will wear with the dress for Easter.

It's not often that I make so many pieces of jewellery with myself in mind and so choosing one was a task I delegated to a friend who was coming over to the studio today. Unfortunately, we had a last minute change of plans and I'm in the studio on my own. So my plan to model each necklace with THAT dress has also gone out the window but nevertheless, I thought I'd have a little bit of fun with it and have a virtual fashion parade instead.

So, cue the upbeat catwalk music and let the fashion parade begin....

Welcome to the Easter Jewels by Mill Lane Studio Jewellery Parade.

Fashion experts agree that great jewellery can make an outfit and today, we'll be putting that statement to the test. If you want your jewellery to be noticed in any social situation, the designs you are about to see are sure to impress. All the pieces in this collection are designed to coordinate with a wild and colourful 70s inspired T-Shirt style dress made from comfortable stretch spandex. With casual Easter gatherings in mind, Myléne has selected a variety of pieces of jewellery to accessorise with her outfit.

First off, a bold shell pendant is teamed with a delicate spiral beaded rope. The rope is worked in herringbone stitch and picks up the colours of the shell perfectly. A beautiful casual piece, perfect for relaxed resort wear.

Next, Myléne teams exotic frangipanis with a silver floral focal and handmade paper beads. Reminiscent of a Hawaiian lei, the tropical blooms lend a splash of colour to this neutral necklace as they wind their way through the strands. With all the ambience of the tropics, this necklace is the ideal accessory for that romantic getaway on a tropical island paradise.

Opting for a totally different look, Myléne has chosen a woven leather lace necklace which features a stunning silver buckle from Silver Creek Leather as the focal. A touch of class is added with a scattering of Czech glass beads throughout the woven lace. This look would be right at home at the local rodeo or at a casual barbecue lunch.

Moving along to a more opulent look, Myléne has selected a necklace featuring luxurious Kashmiri beads and hammered silver rings interspersed with chocolate brown glass pearls and beads; a rich necklace with a smart casual feel perfect for an evening on the town.

Elegant and lean, the next piece is ultra versatile and can be worn a number of stylish ways: doubled up, it can be casually looped through itself; in a single length it can be tied in a loose knot; or it can be draped around the neck once with the ends allowed to hang forward. The angled stitchwork in this piece is accentuated by a delicate picot edge. This necklace is suited to more formal affairs.

Casual beach wear never looked so good with this stunning necklace featuring the natural elements of wooden beads and kukui nuts. Teamed with metallic chocolate focal elements and interspersed with elegant lengths of chain, this necklace is the ideal accessory to dress up a T-shirt.

Our final piece today offers the perfect combination of weight and texture. Featuring varying lengths of chunky gold chains draping elegantly from the collarbone, this piece accentuates the chest without drawing attention to it. The mix of different chain styles add substance and texture to this bold and bright necklace. Perfect for both day wear and evening wear, this necklace will prove to be an invaluable addition to your wardrobe.

This concludes the Easter Jewels parade and we thank you for joining us today as we walked through this eclectic collection from Mill Lane Studio. We think you'll agree that great jewellery does make or break an outfit and hope that you'll linger a little longer to cast your vote for the design you think works best with the dress. Thank you for your participation and we hope you'll join us again later in the week when the winning design is announced. (Exit podium to upbeat catwalk music.....)

Thanks for indulging me with my little bit of fun today. But seriously, I'd love to hear your thoughts on which necklace you think does the most justice to the dress. It's always great to get your feedback.

'Til next time....
